my central air doesn't reach up to the third level of my home-

even with registers to the other two levels completely closed, we can not

get air up there. Well, ok very very faint air comes through. What could

Hot air is push up and cold air falls. I would suggest an attic

fan installed to pull the hot air from the third floor out this will help.

Try placing a fan on your vents to help pull the cold air up to the rooms

ever notice that in high rises, the A/C units are on top of the roof?

that is because the cold air more easily travels from the top down rather

your A/C unit simply doesn't have the power to blast cold air up that far.  
 
i would suggest you get a small window unit for the 3rd floor
